The Venerable Bede Church of England Academy (formerly Venerable Bede Church of England (Aided) Secondary School) is a coeducational secondary school located in the Tunstall area of Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, England.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=The Venerable Bede Academy )〕 The school is named after Saint Bede, a monk, author and scholar who wrote ''Historia ecclesiastica gentis Anglorum''. The school opened in 2002 on the former site of Ryhope Colliery and later Ryhope golf course. Previously a voluntary aided school administered by Sunderland City Council and the Church of England Diocese of Durham, Venerable Bede Church of England (Aided) Secondary School converted to academy status and was renamed The Venerable Bede Church of England Academy. While still administered by the diocoese, the school is independent of city council control. However The Venerable Bede Church of England Academy continues to coordinate with Sunderland City Council for admissions. ==References==
